What is STEM and why does it matter?
What is STEM and why does it matter?
We are sure by now you will have heard the term STEM, or a variation such as SMET or STEAM. But what do they mean and why are they being talked about? Well STEM is an acronym and stands for:
The reason that you, and particularly your children, will be hearing this more and more is because these subjects overlap and cover similar areas of learning. Combined with the direction that the world is heading in, a comprehensive knowledge of these subjects will set your children up for a better understanding of the future and the careers associated with these.
STEM is being increasingly taught in primary education with an emphasis on encouraging participation in these subjects as children progress through their educational journey.
Here at Cubie we strongly believe in the importance of all children having a good understanding of the STEM subjects in order to better prepare them for an ever increasingly technologically driven world. By working on the Cubie maths programme, children have the opportunity to revisit and revise their maths skills in order to become confident and competent in the subject. Laying these foundations is a cornerstone of Cubie’s educational philosophy.
